Doris Hays was born in Peoria, Illinois and now lives just south of Peoria in Topeka with Art, her husband of 35 years. Most of Doris' writing is done in the quiet of the morning, and living near a forest preserve is the perfect setting. She has written mostly lyrics and short stories in her 13 years of writing and has enjoyed listening to the songs created with her words. In her spare time, Doris enjoys ballroom dancing and reading. Song Partners is happy to introduce Doris to our Artist Showcase.
In My DreamsBy Doris E. Hays
In the early hours of the morning I hear you whisper my name As I lay wrapped in slumber Your voice echoes through the haze
Why are you calling me You seem so far away I try not to think of you In my travels through the day
(Chorus) Memories of us when we were young Lingers in my heart and mind When you visit me in my dreams I’m in love with you again
In my dreams you are with me The heart remembers another time and place When life was simple and we were young But time has slipped away
I thought that you were gone Out of my life for good But I was wrong As your memory still haunts me in my dreams
(Chorus) Memories of us when we were young Lingers in my heart and mind When you visit me in my dreams I’m in love with you again I’m in love with you in my dreams
