Q & A

Why must poems be evaluated?  Can’t any poem be turned into a song?

We at Song Partners evaluate poems for many reasons, one being that certain subject matter is inappropriate for most of the venues which we try to market.  In addition, some      poems would be best suited for styles of music which we do not create at Song Partners, such as Hip-Hop, Rap Music or Fusion.  It’s not that we don’t appreciate all forms of music but, honestly, we just don’t have the background to create those styles.

I’ve noticed that most song companies offer a musical background and use a male vocalist on recordings.  What if my words are more suited to a female vocalist?

Then you’re out of luck with those companies. But here at Song Partners we are not just a one man operation.  If your words are gender related and we feel your song would be best sung by a female vocalist, that’s what you get.   We know there are companies out there promising you this and that, but if the song is not right, does all that other stuff really matter?  At Song Partners, it’s the song that we focus on.  First things first!

What will the quality of my recording be?

Our studios use high quality Digital Recording.  Your song will be delivered to you in CD form, unless otherwise specified.

How long will it take to have my song recorded?

It generally will take 3 to 4 weeks from the time we receive your completed                    contract.  That includes the actual song writing process, studio time, recording, editing, mastering and delivery.

What style of music can you put my words to?

Although many people elect to have our composers select an appropriate style,                  you may choose just about any style you like. Here are just a few:

Country Pop Ballad
Spiritual Rock Folk
Latin Patriotic R & B
Soul Easy Listening

What does editing involve?

Editing poems and lyrics is a very common practice in song writing. It incorporates a variety of functions. Editing may simply consist of correcting grammar or spelling. Words and sentences may be added, replaced, removed or rearranged to add rhythm, rhyme and flow to the song. Sometimes entire paragraphs or verses must be removed so that the song yields a more standard playing time. Still, other times, words, sentences or even paragraphs (choruses) are added or repeated to extend the length of the song or make it catchier. However, we will always strive to keep the significance of your words true to their original ideology. After all, if we did not admire the quality of your poems/lyrics in the first place, we would not have accepted them for our Songwriting Department.

At Song Partners, we understand the time our customers put into their poems and lyrics. We do not take editing lightly. Yet, it must be understood that, through our experience, we make these changes for the overall enhancement of the song. You have put your faith in Song Partners to act on your best behalf and write a quality song. That’s what we intend to do.

How can I find out about copyrighting my song?

Along with your completed recording Song Partners will include, free of charge, all forms required to register your new songs with the Copyright Office in Washington D.C.

Once my finished demo CD arrives, how can I promote my song to the Music Industry?

Our initial Songwriting and Recording Contract does not include promotions and marketing.  However, Song Partners now offers an optional Promotional Package for those artists who do not wish to self-promote their songs.

If you have other questions, please feel free to email us.  Thanks.
